About Our...

Personal Safety Workshops

Wise Women believe that all women have the right to live free from violence, abuse and fear when living their daily lives. Many women, 97% in fact, have felt concerned for their safety at some point in their lives either at home, in the streets, at work or on public transport.

Our workshops are designed to give women an insight into the work we do and address any anxiety women may have about taking part in one of our courses. The workshops will show you that Personal Safety Techniques are not only physical they are also emotional and verbal and are accessible to women of all fitness levels, abilities and ages.

The sessions usually last 2 hours and women will have the opportunity to watch or try out some of the basic and simple first forms of defence that can be used to help you identify, avoid and escape potentially dangerous situations. Women attending our workshops have found them to be really positive in focussing on what women can do as opposed to feeling what they can’t and many women often decide to sign up for our Free 20hr Personal Safety Courses which:

  • Raise awareness
  • Provide information and education
  • Offer support and legal advice
  • Teach practical and accessible skills to help women identify, avoid and escape potentially dangerous situations
  • Build confidence and self esteem and improve health through the reduction of stress and fear

Our Courses and workshops are open to any woman in the Glasgow area and we often run courses for women who have similar experiences of violence or discrimination i.e. disabled women, older women, black women, women dealing with addiction etc.

If you are interested in attending any of our workshops or courses or have any questions about what’s involved in them please feel free to contact us.
